Camden Council has resolved to grant planning permission for Yoo Capital's Camden Film Quarter, marking a significant milestone for the transformational mixed-use development.

Four years in development, Camden Film Quarter represents a new approach to urban regeneration, bringing together film and television production, education, employment, housing, culture and public space within a single integrated destination.

Commenting on the approval, Lloyd Lee, Managing Partner of Yoo Capital, said:

"Camden Film Quarter is much more than a film studio development. It is a complete creative ecosystem that brings together production, education, employment, homes, culture and public space within a single integrated vision."

At the heart of the scheme will be 11 state-of-the-art purpose-built sound stages, operated by Oxygen Studios, alongside a wider creative campus designed to support the UK's growing screen industries while creating opportunities for local communities.

Developed in partnership with Oxygen Studios, Places for People, SPPARC, the National Film & Television School and London Screen Academy, the project establishes a direct pathway from education into employment, helping to nurture the next generation of creative talent. The approved plans include:

  • 11 purpose-built sound stages operated by Oxygen Studios, whose team has supported more than 100 productions, including Star Wars, Mission: Impossible and James Bond.

  • 485 new homes, with 50% delivered as affordable housing in partnership with Places for People.

  • On-site education facilities for more than 500 learners through the National Film & Television School and London Screen Academy.

  • More than 100,000 sq ft of creative workspace, supporting approximately 4,000 direct jobs and over 5,000 additional jobs across the wider economy.

  • New public parks and green routes, the planting of more than 300 trees and approximately 190% Biodiversity Net Gain.

  • The restoration and long-term reuse of the Grade II listed Kentish Town Police Station.

Camden Film Quarter has been designed to demonstrate how the creative industries can drive long-term regeneration by combining economic growth with education, employment, housing and environmental improvements in a single development.

The project aims to create a destination where people can learn, create, work, live and connect, while strengthening London's position as a global centre for film, television and the creative industries.

We would like to thank Camden Council, local residents, community organisations, businesses and the wider consultant team whose collaboration has helped shape the project and bring it to this important milestone.
